It’s hard to deny the influence of Danish fashion on the international style set. Every It Girl is lining up to shop from Ganni, Baum Und Pferdgarten, Saks Potts, Rotate/Remain Birger Christensen and Samsøe Samsøe—to name only a few.
Last Copenhagen Fashion Week, the ‘How To Dress Like A Danish Influencer’ trend swept TikTok, with every fashion girlie attempting to pair a frou-frou maxi dress with their “ugliest pair of sneakers“.
With major influence in the culinary, design and fashion industries, Denmark punches well above its weight in terms of cultural exports and trend-setting, especially when it comes to aesthetics.
What Is Scandi Style?
A buyer for The Outnet once told marie caire Australia Scandi style was “practicality with a stylish edge”. As you can see, above all, Danes prize being comfy—as well as stylish. (We mean, have you heard of the Hygge philosophy? That’s their thing too.)
Scandi style is also bolder than other European fashion capitals, taking up more space visually (and often literally) with loud patterns, vibrant colours and voluminous or baggy shapes. This compares to Paris, where style guidelines of ‘sleek, black and feminine’ still reign supreme.
When Is Copenhagen Fashion Week 2023?
Between August 7-11, influencers and industry insiders are flocking to Copenhagen Fashion Week to see shows for spring/summer 24.
And despite being summer in the Danish capital, guests are already in their autumnal finest — even braving the rain for some outdoor shows. Nevertheless, the seasonal confusion has given us some fabulous looks to devour, including a fabulous mix of double denim, leather, cool jackets, maxi skirts and many, many designer bags.
