Taylor Swift is officially a bride!
After months of feverish speculation surrounding every last detail of her wedding to Travis Kelce, from the venue to the guest list, there was always one question that mattered just a little bit more than the rest: what would she wear?
For a star whose wardrobe has long been defined by distinct fashion eras, each ushering in a new musical and aesthetic identity, the question was never simply what she would wear, but which version of Taylor Swift would walk down the aisle.
True to form, she gave nothing away.
Now that they’ve officially tied the knot, Swift’s representative has finally revealed some of the wedding’s most closely guarded details, releasing an official statement that confirms the designer behind her highly anticipated bridal look.
“The bride and groom’s wedding ceremony looks have been created by Christian Dior Haute Couture. They are designed by Jonathan Anderson, Creative Director of Dior Women’s, Men’s and Haute Couture Collections, in close collaboration with the Bride and Groom. This is the designer’s first couture wedding dress for a world-renowned celebrity. Their shoes were custom made by Christian Louboutin and the bride wore Cartier jewelry,” the statement said.
The couple are yet to release any official wedding photos, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed that we won’t have to wait much longer.
The announcement finally puts an end to months of fashion sleuthing. In the lead-up to the wedding, there was no shortage of theories about who Swift would choose for one of the most anticipated bridal looks in recent memory.
In choosing Dior, Swift and Kelce bypassed the expected Americana of Ralph Lauren and instead entrusted one of fashion’s most influential creative forces. Anderson, who took the helm of Dior’s women’s, men’s and haute couture collections last year after a decade redefining Loewe, currently holds one of the industry’s most coveted positions.
While Anderson has previously designed wedding dresses for private clients, Swift is the first global celebrity to marry in one of his Dior Haute Couture bridal creations.
Rumours that Anderson would design Swift’s wedding dress had been swirling for weeks. In April, Swift stepped out in New York carrying one of Anderson’s bright yellow Dior bags, an unusual choice given she had rarely been photographed with the house before. Naturally, fans interpreted it as a potential Easter egg. And if there’s one thing Swift has taught us, it’s that almost nothing she wears is ever accidental!
