The ‘Gilmore Girls’ Costume Designer Has Just Confirmed The Father Of Rory’s Baby

“It was supposed to be very, very, very, very, very obvious.”

Most of us Gilmore Girls fans expected the show’s four revival episodes to provide us with some much needed closure about the characters we were so invested in.

But the Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life left us with even more questions than the original series—including who the father of Rory’s baby is. Logan? Jess? The Wookie? Rory’s forgettable boyfriend Paul?

Well, thanks to Gilmore Girls costume designer Valerie Campbell, we finally have an answer.

The costume designer took to TikTok to end the speculation and told fans that it’s obviously Logan.

If you need a reminder: Logan (played by Matt Czuchry) is Rory’s now married college boyfriend, who she starts (continues?) to sleep with again in the revival episodes.

To get to her answer, Campbell starts breaking down why the father couldn’t be anyone else, stating:

“In Winter she is sleeping with Paul, maybe, maybe not, she might have forgotten to do it,” Valerie says, “But she definitely forgot to break up with that guy. But…she definitely wasn’t sleeping with him.”

Valerie also points out that Rory’s moment with the Wookie happened in the Spring.

“If it was the Wookie she would definitely be showing and we never gave her a pregnancy belly. That is very, very important. We never gave her one, we were never instructed to give her one. It is definitely not the Wookiee.”

Valerie finally (and very casually) confirms that the father is Logan, explaining: “The only obvious choice is—you guessed it—Logan. And Amy [Sherman-Palladino] herself said, ‘Why are people even questioning who the father is?’ It’s because it was supposed to be very, very, very, very, very obvious.”

While Jess fans might be a little disappointed that Jess wasn’t secretly the father, it does suggest that the character could be fulfilling his destiny by becoming a Luke to Rory’s future child.

Here’s to hoping that we’ll see it all play out in another set of revival episodes.
