Just one day after viewers watched Farmer Alex and Eddy ride off into the sunset together on Farmer Wants A Wife, reports are emerging that the couple quietly split months ago.
According to New Idea, Eddy has since moved on with a new partner named Matthis, an Aussie-based Frenchman who has reportedly been dating the lawyer since earlier this year.
The news may come as a surprise to fans, given how strong Alex and Eddy’s connection appeared throughout the season.
Alex was so certain of his feelings that he ended his other relationships early, becoming the first farmer to leave the show after telling Eddy he was in love with her. Eddy, meanwhile, said she was “falling in love.” It might sound like semantics, but anyone who’s ever dated knows the two phrases are distinctly different. She did, however, explain that it was difficult for her to say she was “in love” after being hurt in past relationships.

According to New Idea, Eddy’s reported new partner is a Frenchman named Matthis, who is now based in Australia.
While little is known about him, the publication reports the pair were introduced through mutual friends earlier this year and have been dating ever since. Social media posts also appear to place them together as early as January, with New Idea reporting they’ve been inseparable in the months since.
The couple have since been spotted out together in public, with photos showing Eddy and Matthis near her Brisbane home on June 28 walking her dog, Whiskey, before stopping to grab a coffee.
The pair were photographed holding hands and embracing throughout the outing. Neither Eddy nor Matthis has publicly commented on the reported romance.

While little is publicly known about the circumstances surrounding their reported split, Woman’s Day cited an unnamed source who claimed the relationship ended following a dramatic clash at Alex’s farm in Kin Kin, Queensland.
“I know they didn’t last long,” the source told the publication.
During the season, Alex had been open about his concerns that the pair’s differing religious beliefs could become an issue.
“After the dinner I realised there may be religious differences,” he said after Eddy asked to say grace before dinner.
“I want to ask her about it because I don’t think I’ll be able to date someone or have a long-term relationship with someone who is religious. It just wouldn’t work.”
Despite those concerns, Eddy remained the clear frontrunner. During their 24-hour date, Alex gifted her a necklace in a grand romantic gesture and admitted he found himself thinking about her even while on dates with the other women.
Meanwhile, New Idea has also reported that the couple split shortly after filming wrapped in late 2025 and worked to keep the breakup under wraps while the season aired. The publication claims Alex was left heartbroken by the end of the relationship and has been leaning on family for support.
