If this season has a redemption arc, it belongs to Mel Akbay and Luke Fourniotis. Their marriage began in near-farcical fashion.
Mel arrived at the altar ready for one of the biggest moments of her life, only to find herself standing alone as guests shifted awkwardly in their seats.
Her groom was nowhere to be seen. When Luke finally appeared, his explanation was disarmingly simple: he had forgotten the rings.
The confession instantly punctured the romance of the moment, with one guest noting that for a first day of marriage, he seemed remarkably disorganised.
Mel, who had already set specific and lofty expectations for her husband, was visibly dismayed.

“I changed my attitude, I changed my outlook, and that’s why it’s changed our relationship. We’re doing so good,” she said.
