Well, there goes our last remaining shred of faith in reality TV romance. Married At First Sight golden couple Rhi Disljenkovic and Jeff Gobbels have called it quits after two years together.

Confirming the split last week, Rhi shared a reflective Instagram carousel on Monday evening, opening up about navigating a period of significant change.

“Life’s looked a little different lately. Some days have felt heavy; some days have felt really good. Most days have been a mix of both,” she wrote. “There’s been a lot of change, a lot to process, and a lot of moments where I’ve had to learn to sit with things I can’t control.”

Rhi went on to say she is taking things one day at a time, focusing on the people, routines and small moments that help her feel like herself again.

She also thanked those who had reached out in recent days, writing: “The support I’ve felt this past week has carried me through some really difficult moments, and I’ll never forget that.”

The post comes just days after Rhi and Jeff announced the end of their relationship.

While the breakup came as a shock to many fans, reports suggest at least one person may have seen it coming: Jeff’s ex-wife, Brooke Thomas.

Jeff was married to Brooke from 2019 to 2021, though the pair had been together since 2013. According to Women’s Day, Brooke has privately reflected on similarities between her own experience and the challenges reportedly faced by Jeff and Rhi.

Neither Brooke nor Rhi has publicly commented on the reasons behind their respective breakups. However, sources have alleged that issues surrounding communication, trust and long-term compatibility contributed to tensions in both relationships.

“Looking back, she feels her gut instinct was right,” one source told Women’s Day, adding that Brooke remains focused on her family and has no intention of publicly discussing the situation.

Rhi and Jeff confirmed their split last week in separate statements, shared to social media on June 2nd, with both describing the decision as “incredibly difficult.”

“With a heavy heart, I want to share that Jeff and I have decided to part ways. This has been one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make,” Rhi, 36, wrote.

“I’m incredibly grateful for the love we shared and all of the memories we created.

“Thank you to everyone who supported us throughout our relationship and followed along on our journey. Your kindness means more than you know and I appreciate your respect and understanding as we move forward.”

Jeff, 40, shared a similar message on his own account.

“After a lot of thought, unfortunately, my relationship has ended. This has been an incredibly difficult time and I’m trying to navigate this as best as I can,” he wrote.

“I’m grateful for the memories and genuine love we shared over the years. Thank you for supporting our relationship, being part of our journey and respecting my privacy during this time.”

The announcement comes after weeks of speculation that the pair had quietly separated, with fans noticing they had unfollowed one another on social media.

Rumours intensified when Rhi shared a series of reflective Instagram posts, including one that read: “Choosing relationships that feel calm and safe. Not confusing inconsistency or mixed signals for love.”

Another slide referenced “learning to enjoy my own company” and not relying on “constant noise, plans or validation” to feel content.

Despite the speculation, fans remained hopeful after Jeff publicly commented on the post, writing, “Love this” alongside applause emojis. However, with the relationship now over, it seems Rhi’s comments about “inconsistency” and “mixed signals” may have been more telling than fans initially realised.

Rhi and Jeff were the final original couple from Married At First Sight’s 2025 season still together.

The pair had previously dated for a month before being unexpectedly matched on Season 12 of the experiment. While they initially friend-zoned one another, their connection eventually blossomed into one of the franchise’s biggest success stories.

After the show, the couple took their relationship to the next level, moving into a Melbourne apartment together. Reflecting on the milestone, Jeff told 9Entertainment: “I think that was a big step for our relationship. We came out of the experiment and, in such a short space of time, decided to move in with each other.”

The pair also spoke openly about their future together. During an appearance on the This Is Chaos podcast, Rhi revealed she would “definitely want to have kids at some stage”, while the couple frequently discussed building a life together.

Their split marks the end of one of the most successful and beloved relationships to emerge from Married At First Sight in recent years.
