As more details continue to emerge from Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding, we’ve finally been treated to a glimpse of the bride’s bouquet.
Among the sprawling guest list, which included Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid and Dakota Johnson, was Kansas City Chiefs offensive lineman Trey Smith. His plus-one, older sister Ashley Smith, revealed on Instagram yesterday that Swift had tossed the bouquet into her lucky hands. The blooms, however, weren’t exactly flourishing.
She accompanied the post with the caption, “Celebrated an Enchanting Love S(T&T)ory. And somehow…I ended up catching Tay Tay’s bouquet. So here’s to believing it’s bringing a lifetime of love, luck, and laughter my way.”
Details of the event have been scarce. As New York City sweltered through a heatwave before torrential rain swept in, the newlyweds celebrated inside the impenetrable fortress that is Madison Square Garden over the Fourth of July weekend.
The venue meant no paparazzi, no drones and security so tight that almost no details have escaped. Naturally, that only fuelled curiosity surrounding the lavish affair, which reportedly cost around USD$20 million.
With images of the bouquet now circulating online, people naturally have thoughts on the slightly dishevelled blooms. Many commenters were quick to point out the bouquet’s sparse flowers and snapped stems, with some suggesting “it had seen better days.”
“Heavy on the ‘effortless,'” one commenter wrote, while another asked, “Holy cow, what happened to it?” A third quipped, “How many times was that tossed?”

No matter their state, the arrangement offers further insight into the aesthetic choices behind the wedding. The wildflowers appear to be in keeping with the couple’s reported “garden party” theme, with People reporting that Madison Square Garden had been transformed into “a forest” of real trees for the celebration.
Geraldine Mills of Prospector Studio suggests this was likely a “tossing bouquet”: a mini arrangement used in place of the real bouquet, allowing the bride to keep the main flowers as a memento. If not, however? “I’d be asking for my money back.”

In the images, the bouquet appears to be made up of pale pink flowers, which Geraldine believes are sweet peas and Queen Anne’s lace. Speaking to the symbolism of the flowers, Queen Anne’s lace represents “sanctuary, safety and refuge” in a marital relationship, while sweet pea is a symbol of “delicate beauty, friendship, pleasure and gratitude.”
Geraldine also notes that, for the scale of the wedding, the bouquet is a tad “minimal” and “lends itself to more of a country style, intimate gathering.”
That said, reports have been trickling in that despite the vastness of the ceremony, which reportedly had 1,000 guests in attendance, the event still felt intimate.
Good Morning America co-presenter George Stephanopoulos, who was reportedly in attendance, said the event was “as intimate as it could possibly be given it was Madison Square Garden.”
He described the setting as a “garden inside the Garden”, adding: “It was just so beautiful. It’s hard to imagine that a place that big and a wedding with such stars could feel so personal and so intimate.”
It seems Taylor was cultivating a wildflower, fairytale-like garden nestled within the stadium. In that case, perhaps her bouquet, when not being tossed, was perfect for the occasion.
