Our next obsession is here

The reign of the romance novel adaptation continues with the announcement Lauren Asher’s Throttled will officially be coming to our screens, and as a confessed spicy book lover, I couldn’t be more thrilled.

What’s more, Australian actor Josh Heuston has been tapped to star in the feature film, fresh from his role in the record-breaking Off Campus adaptation.

Per Deadline, Amazon MGM Studios has acquired the worldwide rights to the novel, so here’s what you need to know about the book series and its adaptation.

What Is The Book, Throttled, About?

Throttled is the first book in Lauren Asher’s Dirty Air series, which is a collection of four interconnected standalone romance novels. Like many beloved modern romance books, the series is set in the professional sporting world, more specifically Formula One.

Book one, Throttled, follows F1 driver Noah Slade who, between “press tours, sponsor events and black-tie galas” has a championship title to win. The only thing that could get in his way is a major distraction. Enter the sister of his biggest rival on the track, Maya Alatorre.

You can guess where this is going, right?

Giving in to their attraction and sneaking around is one thing, but developing actual feelings is another. And you can bet that’s exactly where this story is going. Like I said: thrilling.

Off Campus still

First Throttled Cast Confirmed

Josh Hesuton is the first of the cast to be confirmed in the lead role of Noah Slade. Exactly who will play his love interest, Maya, is yet to be confirmed.

As for the rest of the crew, Nzingha Stewart is set to direct, with Melissa Osborne adapting the book to a script, both of whom have strong resumes in the romance space, including My Fault: London, My Oxford Year and Tall Girl.

Exactly when we can expect the motorsport feature to hit our screens remains unknown, but given this is the first formal announcement with more casting to come, we’d estimate a long wait. Sigh.
