The MTV VMAs (Video Music Awards) are back for 2025 and this year’s awards ceremony is already shaping up to be a major deal.
For those in need of reminding, the VMAs are responsible for some of the most referenced pop culture moments in history including Kanye West rudely interrupting Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech, that kiss between Madonna and Britney Spears and Beyonce revealing her first pregnancy.
So, for those who consider themselves perennially tapped into the latest in celeb culture, it’s not the awards show to miss.
Taking place today in Australia (Sunday U.S. time) the nominations are being led by Lady Gaga with a whopping 12 noms across 12 categories, closely followed by Bruno Mars and Kendrick Lamar.
The nominees list is also a veritable who’s who of music it-girls including Sabrina Carpenter, Rosé, Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Charli XCX and Doechii.
There will also be countless must-see performances by Lady Gaga, Sabrina Carpenter, Mariah Carey, Tate McRae and fictional pop stars HUNTR/X from Netflix hit, K-Pop Demon Hunters.
Of course, we can’t forget the red carpet looks either with the VMAs becoming synonymous with celebs’ more daring looks. As far as awards shows go, this is the event for a little drama.
