Zendaya and Tom Holland are swinging back onto our screens, and this time, they’re stepping back into the spotlight, with the promise of a full-scale press tour to match.
The newlyweds will reunite onscreen for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the fourth standalone Spider-Man film in the MCU, which lands in cinemas on July 31, 2026. The release marks Holland’s seventh outing as the franchise’s web-slinger and his first since the record-breaking success of Spider-Man: No Way Home.
On March 18, Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures dropped the first official trailer, offering a more emotional and introspective tone than we have seen before.
It opens on Peter Parker alone, perched high above the city, scrolling through old videos of MJ and Ned on his phone, a poignant reminder of where we last left him.
At the end of No Way Home, Peter made the ultimate sacrifice, choosing to erase himself from everyone’s memory in order to stop the multiverse from collapsing, a crisis triggered by Doctor Strange’s spell that pulled Spidey villains including Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus into the MCU.
In doing so, he lost everything, including his relationship with MJ, his friendship with Ned, and any trace of the life he once knew.
“Hi, my name is Peter Parker,” Holland says in voiceover. “You don’t remember me, but we used to know each other.”
Four years on, Peter is older, isolated, and still carrying the grief of losing Aunt May, played by Marisa Tomei. We get a peak at his new comic-accurate suit, a more solitary existence, and a version of Spider-Man that trades wide-eyed teenage optimism for something closer to reluctant adulthood.
Where No Way Home brought together the Spider-Men of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, Brand New Day turns its focus to what comes after.
The scale, however, remains intact. Jon Bernthal returns as the Punisher, Mark Ruffalo reprises his role as Bruce Banner, and Michael Mando is back as Scorpion. Joining them are Sadie Sink, Tramell Tillman, Liza Colón-Zayas and Marvin Jones II, who takes on the role of Tombstone.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, Spider-Man: Brand New Day arrives in cinemas on July 31.
