Everything You Need To Know About Jon Tenney, Carrie Bradshaw’s New Love Interest

This isn't the first time you've seen the 'And Just Like That' star.

Warning: This article contains spoilers to And Just Like That episode 7.

Jon Tenney can simply be known as ‘vomit man’ until his character, Peter the teacher, does something equally as striking on HBO’s And Just Like That.

But luckily for him, it appears he might manage exactly that as he gets closer to his on-screen love interest, Carrie Bradshaw in the rebooted series—with the promise of more scenes to come.

In episode seven, viewers were introduced to the mystery man we’d had our eye on ever since pap photos revealed the US-based actor Tenney and Sarah Jessica Parker filming some suss scenes together in New York City.

As it turns out, his character is also a widower, having recently lost his wife to ovarian cancer. After matching with Carrie on a dating app, they agree to go on a date (Carrie somewhat reluctantly, but under pressure from her publisher). As they sit down at a chic Manhattan restaurant, Peter addresses the elephant in the room by confessing the date is his first since his wife passed.

We all know what comes next. The pair proceed to get extremely drunk, leaving the restaurant in a fit of incoherent giggles before spectacularly chundering all over the pavement. While both are deeply embarrassed by it, when they next cross paths they agree to a second date.

By the end of the episode, it’s clear the pair have some chemistry, albeit tenuous, and there’s definitely more to come for their potential romance.

So now that we know Tenney’s character is going to be hanging around, we figured it high time to suss the need-to-knows on the actor himself.

Who is Jon Tenney?

Jon Tenney is an American actor who grew up in Princeton, New Jersey. While his face isn’t immediately recognisable in comparison to some of And Just Like That‘s mega-stars, there’s a good chance you’ve seen him before.

That’s because Tenney has carved out a pretty impressive career in television. Along with guest appearances in Brothers & SistersWill & Grace and The Newsroom, he was also one of the main actors on Major Crimes, appearing on all six of its seasons between 2012 and 2016.

He later scored a recurring role in the political thriller Scandal, which also starred Kerry Washington, which ended in 2018.

Given the clout of Sex And The City, Tenney’s role in its reboot series And Just Like That will likely give his profile a boost in Hollywood.

What will happen to Jon Tenney’s character in And Just Like That?

Officially, we know that Carrie and Peter will go on a second date in And Just Like That, but we’re pretty sure there’ll be a little more romance to come between the pair. In pap shots published while they were filming in New York City in late 2021, Parker and Tenney were seen kissing on a sidewalk while they were in character.

Here’s hoping this romance will prove to be the happy epilogue Carrie’s book publisher so desperately wants…
