Are Media’s very own CEO Jane Huxley is set to speak at the 2023 Forbes Australia Women’s Summit, alongside some of Australia’s most innovative visionaries and game-changing entrepreneurs.
Taking place on March 22 around the theme ‘The Power of Now’, the Forbes Australia Women’s Summit will explore what it means to unlock new thinking, translate ideas into impact, and “leverage this pivotal time of change to build not just a successful future, but a resilient and gender-balanced one“, too.
According to Forbes, just 6.2% of the top 300 ASX-listed companies have female CEOs, while just 18% of Australian board chairs belong to women. Less than 5% of women say they work for gender equality leaders, and female founders receive seven times less VC funding than their male counterparts.
As CEO of Are Media (which publishes marie claire Australia), Huxley heads up Australia’s leading content company for women, reaching almost 9 million Australian women every month through its host of titles, including Australian Women’s Weekly, Gourmet Traveller, ELLE Australia, and of course, marie claire.
“There is one crisp piece of advice I was once given that has really proved invaluable to me,” Huxley told marie claire last year for our Working On It career series. “Don’t believe everything you think. We have a tendancy to build stories in our minds about what could be, should be, might be… it’s important to remind yourself to always look for facts and evidence when you are spiralling.”
It’s a piece of advice that has served her well “many, many times” in her 25+ year career, spanning blue chip and scale organisations across the technology, telco and media space.
Who is speaking at the Forbes Australia Women’s Summit?
Huxley will be speaking alongside pioneering women, including top model and Kora Organics founder Miranda Kerr, Google AU VP and Managing Director Melanie Silver, former Australia Post CEO (and now Team Global Express CEO) Christine Holgate, founder of the Gaimaragal Group Susan Moylan-Coombs, and Sunroom co-founder Michelle Battersby.
There are also a number of entrepreneuers from the fashion and beauty industries, including Monday Swimwear and The Pilates Class co-founder Natasha Oakley, Ultra Violette co-founders Ava Matthews and Rebecca Jefferd, and circular fashion AirRobe founder Hannon Comazzetto.
