The Renovations Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Did To Their Home Have Been Revealed

Alongside the cost

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s home is finally complete. After announcing they were moving out of Nottingham Cottage, a two bedroom house on the grounds of Kensington Palace where Prince Harry proposed, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were revealed to have chosen Frogmore Cottage on the Windsor Estate to move into ahead of the arrival of baby Archie.

However, the newlyweds wanted to get some major renovations done to the property before moving in, which were rumoured to have been including a gym and a yoga studio. With the work now complete, according to a palace source, exactly what the couple changed and the cost has been revealed.

Despite earlier rumours of a yoga studio or mother-and-baby yoga room (with sprung wooden floors), the renovations include neither. Instead, the royals focused their attention on making the suitable family home, including upgrading heating, the electrical system and new gas and water mains.

“They’ve attended to the outside of the property, redecorating the exterior doors, windows and walls and upgrading some of the outbuildings —  while also re-landscaping the garden and adding some extra garden lighting too,” People reports.

As far as costs go, Buckingham Palace revealed on Monday that the the public forked out around $4.3 million AUD. However, “anything moveable” or in the cottage gardens has been paid for by Harry and Meghan themselves.

“If a member of the royal family says, ‘We want a better kitchen than you’re prepared to provide with public money,’ then that would fall to them privately and they would have to meet the cost,” adds the source. “If they want that higher specification, they have to pay the extra,” the People source explained.

It looks like Meg will have to find a yoga studio in Windsor for the time being. But on the upside, she has a pretty beautiful new home – oh, and a prince.
