If you spent your teenage years driving around with the windows down, blasting Odyssey Number Five, get ready: Powderfinger are officially back together and touring Australia.
With Bernard Fanning’s unmistakable vocals and an arsenal of anthems like ‘These Days’, ‘My Happiness’ and ‘Sunsets’, the Brisbane quintet didn’t just define a generation of Australian music; they became part of the cultural fabric. Calling it quits with their dramatic Sunsets Farewell Tour in 2010, many fans believed they’d never see the band play live again.
Then, the clues began to appear.
Fans began predicting a reunion was indeed on the cards when cryptic teasers began popping up around the country, shared on a mysterious new social account called The Return of the Electric Horsemen. Soon enough fans pieced together the mystery and the band made the announcement they’d been waiting for: they’re back.
A reunion wouldn’t be complete without a packed tour to match. Powderfinger have confirmed they are performing a massive 18-date Australian tour that’s already seen an exponential response from fans. Selling out almost immediately, the band along with Live Nation have added more shows across four capital cities.
Adding to the already huge lineup, there are now extra shows in:
- Brisbane on Monday, September 6 and Wednesday, September 8
- Melbourne on Monday, September 25 and Wednesday, September 27
- Sydney on Wednesday, October 6
- Perth on Monday September 27
