Chappell Roan has become as known for her uncompromising candour on mental health, politics and personal boundaries as she is for her music. That outspokenness is now shaping her professional choices.

The pop star has cut ties with Wasserman, the talent agency led by Los Angeles 2028 Olympics chief Casey Wasserman, following renewed scrutiny over his past email exchanges with convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell.

The decision comes after the release of US Department of Justice files last month, which included flirtatious emails sent between Wasserman and Maxwell in 2003.

“I think of you all the time,” Wasserman wrote in one message. “So, what do I have to do to see you in a tight leather outfit?”

In another exchange, Maxwell offered Wasserman a massage that could “drive a man wild”, according to the files. At the time, Wasserman was reportedly married.

The documents also revealed that Wasserman boarded Epstein’s private jet in 2002 for a two-week trip to Africa, allegedly as part of a humanitarian tour that included numerous high-profile figures. There is no suggestion he was aware of Epstein’s crimes at the time.

Wasserman has said in a statement he “deeply regrets” his communication with Maxwell, stressing that the emails were sent more than two decades ago, before Maxwell and Epstein’s criminal conduct was publicly known.

Announcing her decision on Instagram, Roan framed the move as a values call.

“As of today, I am no longer represented by Wasserman, the talent agency led by Casey Wasserman” she wrote. “Artists deserve representation that aligns with their values and supports their safety and dignity. This decision reflects my belief that meaningful change in our industry requires accountability and leadership that earns trust.”

The moment lands amid a broader reckoning with Epstein’s long trail of powerful associations.

Maxwell is currently serving a 20 year prison sentence after being convicted in New York in 2021 on multiple charges, including sex trafficking of a minor. Prosecutors found she recruited and groomed underage girls for Epstein over a decade long period.

Wasserman has not been charged with any wrongdoing. He told The New York Times that he “never had a personal or business relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.” Neither he nor his agency has issued further comment in response to Roan’s decision.
