The internet is swirling with speculation and debate over Matty Healy’s Glastonbury performance, namely whether The 1975 frontman made a subtle dig at ex, Taylor Swift.
Is it just a matter of old drama being dredged up (everyone loves shade thrown between celebrity exes, after all) or is there more to it? Let’s unpack.
Taking place between June 25 and 29 this year, Glastonbury Festival produced a huge lineup of artists. Headlining the Friday night was none other than Brit pop rock band, The 1975.
During their set, Healy, who many believe is the man reference in Swift’s hit song, ‘The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived’ from her The Tortured Poets Department album, seemingly made a dig at his ex.

“I want to be sincere for a second with everybody,” Matty said in footage captured by Variety.
“What this moment is making me realize is that I probably am the best. I’m probably the best songwriter of my generation.”
His next comment is what fans really found themselves hyper focused on, going on to add: ““The best, what do we say — a poet — ladies and gentlemen, is what I am.”
“I just want to remind you [for] the next couple of minutes,” Matty went on, “these lyrics, this poetry I bleed for you.”
It’s believed a total of six tracks from Swift’s 2024 album to which Healy appears to be referencing were written about him and his short-lived romance with the ‘Wildest Dreams’ singer including ‘Down Bad’ and ‘I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can)’.
The clues didn’t stop there, with Swifties noticing the singer was donning a pin featuring Peter Pan. Not only has Healy referred to himself as the fictional character previously, but Swift’s The Dead Poet’s Department features the track, ‘Peter’ many also presume is about The 1975 member.
