Grande and Ethan Slater have reportedly split after nearly three years of falling for one another on the set of Wicked.
The relationship began under intense spotlight due to the fervour surrounding the 2024 film that seemingly had the world, and the marie claire Australia office, in a chokehold for months.
Now, it appears the couple had a much quieter end, with multiple outlets reporting Slater and Grande have been “quietly broken up for several months”.
“It’s amicable, they gave lots of time and careful consideration and decided to go their separate ways,” a source tells People. “They are still friends and very supportive of one another. They have been quietly broken up for several months.”

Grande has this week kicked off her Eternal Sunshine tour in California, marking seven years since she last toured. The ‘Thank U, Next’ singer is also releasing new music with her eighth studio album due for release on July 31st this year.
If you’re wondering whether her romance and subsequent split with Slater will serve as creative inspiration, well sources close to Grande have already addressed suspicions.
“Ariana’s new album was not at all inspired by the breakup, nor is the music about her relationship with Etha,” an insider tells TMZ.

How Did Ariana Grande And Ethan Slater Start Dating?
The pair met on the London set of Wicked in late 2022, where Grande was cast as Glinda and Slater as Munchkin Boq. Both were still legally married to other people when filming began — Grande to real estate agent Dalton Gomez, Slater to his wife Lilly Jay, with whom he had welcomed a son just months earlier.
By mid-2023, the overlapping timelines had become tabloid fodder. News broke in July 2023 that Grande and Gomez had parted ways, with Slater filing for divorce from Jay shortly after his new romance made headlines.
The optics were difficult to shake. Jay later penned a candid essay for The Cut, writing that she never imagined divorcing so soon after giving birth — “especially not in the shadow of my husband’s new relationship with a celebrity.”
Grande, for her part, pushed back hard. “There is no one on this earth with a better heart, and that is something that no bullshit tabloid can rewrite in real life,” she said of Slater in a 2024 Vanity Fair interview.
Despite the noise, the couple quietly navigated three years together — until now.
