Australians were shocked to find out Channel 10 had decided on Survivor alum Locky Gilbert as this year’s Bachelor, and now we’ve got another unexpected star cast as the lead in this year’s Bachelorette. Sharna Burgess, an Australian ballroom dancer who is best known for her appearance on the US version of Dancing With The Stars, has been cast as the leading lady, according to TV Blackbox.

Last year, Burgess was asked by Entertainment Tonight if she would ever be interested in appearing on the series. She said, “I am absolutely looking for love, I’m ready for love. I am getting more and more open to being The Bachelorette”.
Ben Norris shared the news on the TV Blackbox podcast, revealing he had been told who the Bachelorette was at the same time he was told Gilbert would appear on the series.
“Everyone is on board for me to do this show and everyone is really interested in me doing it,” she said on the podcast.
“That’s talking friends, family, and everyone I have an interview with right now is asking me about it. I’m the one who’s like ‘I don’t know!’”
Sharna currently splits her time between LA and Sydney, making it a hard decision for the dancer.
“I work a lot over there and I work a lot of here,” she explained. “I am hoping to spend more time here in Australia because of family – when it comes time to having kids, I want to raise them in Australia.”
