They were escorted by a well-dressed driver in his colourful compact vehicle. Before heading into the event, Kate and Will made a point to kindly thank the driver.
Another highlight of the evening was what the royals wore. Wearing matching green outfits, Kate wore a floor-length shimmering emerald-green Jenny Packham gown with a green scarf draped over one shoulder.
Prince William was dressed in a dark teal traditional sherwani by Pakistani brand Naushemian.
And TBH, he stole the show.
Twitter fans were quick to claim he outshone his wife in the fashion stakes.
It wasn’t just how good William looked that local fans loved. They appreciated that Will had chosen to respect their culture by opting for their traditional dress and colour.
"This means so much to us, so many times we have seen western countries making our culture as sign of terrorism and mockery. The future king and queen of [the] UK respecting our culture means a lot," said one Twitter follower.
“The prince & princess in our traditional dress & our traditional colour. I’m feeling so proud,” said another.
“Prince William and Kate Middleton in national attire of Pakistan are displaying their countless love & respect for Pakistani culture. Thanking you Royal Family.”
