There’s no better way to get into the Christmas spirit than with a rewatch of the 2006 flick, The Holiday. And if you also find yourself dreaming of running away from your problems to drink wine and dance to The Killers in a remote cottage like Amanda Woods, then count your lucky stars—because you can now do exactly that.

Nowadays, it’s almost a rite of passage to rewatch cult-favourite films from the early 2000s. Whether you prefer Christmas classics or rom-coms with unforgettable one-liners, it’s no lie that we’ve all fantasised about living in our favourite flick. And thankfully, we can now make The Holiday a reality with the option to stay in a remake of the beloved Rosehill Cottage.

Soon to take bookings for the second half of 2023, a replica of Iris’ sweet, English cottage from the film has been made to appease fans looking to have a meet-cute with their own Jude Law.

Thanks to Lucy Small, from home design company State and Season, she decided to take the matter into her own hands, after she discovered an overwhelming demand for the home on the internet.

The Holiday cottage

As for the real cottage used in the film, it didn’t actually exist. Inspired by the real Honeysuckle Cottage in Holmbury Saint Mary in England, the home in the film was actually built on a sound stage, with any exterior shots of the home taken in real life.

For the replica, Small chose to rebuild her version of the home in Atlanta, Georgia to keep a small-town feel and employed a team of builders, architects and engineers to create a home as similar to the original as possible. You can check out photos of the impressive build via Elite Daily here.

“If you stay there, I want you to feel like it’s an old cottage in the English countryside and Jude Law might knock on the door at any minute,” Small said, as per Elite Daily. She also explained how the project aims to accommodate travellers and fans of the film to help them unwind and experience their comfort movie in person.

The Holiday cottage

Naturally, the home couldn’t be completely recreated due to building codes that are in place for actual places of residence, rather than facades for sound stages. So, when it came to the home’s one-bedroom structure, the IRL home had to include three bedrooms for coding reasons. Sure, it might not look exactly like the original, but the extra bedrooms means that a group getaway with your nearest and dearest could be on the cards.

Of course, the cottage replica comes with a substantial amount of wood-burning fireplaces, wooden beams, a library, English pottery and enough English tea to keep you warm through Atlanta’s snowy season. Sadly, there’ll be no knocking on your door by the owner’s single brother.

According to Elite Daily, the three bedroom faux The Holiday cottage will be open from October 1, 2023. If you’re interested in nabbing a spot before they all go, reservations are set to open on December 1, 2022 with rates starting at around USD $290 (approx. AUD $460) per night.
