An overwhelming sense of grief opens Marvel’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, following on from the tragic passing of its leading man Chadwick Boseman.

The second instalment of Black Panther, which runs for two-and-a-half hours, carries that sense of loss throughout its entirety – the film serving as an ode to a legend.

And to no surprise, it received an 84% rating from Rotten Tomatoes for its “poignant tribute that satisfyingly moves the franchise forward,” so you can safely bet that it’s worth a watch – if you haven’t already done so.

What is Black Panther: Wakanda Forever about?

In the wake of King T’Challa’s death, Queen Ramonda and Shuri are not only left to face the loss of a loved one but need to fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers alongside M’Baku, Okoye and the Dora Milaje.

“As the Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, the heroes must band together with the help of War Dog Nakia and Everett Ross and forge a new path for the kingdom of Wakanda,” the official synopsis reads.

Who is cast in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever?

Reprising her role as Queen Ramonda is Angela Bassett, along with Letitia Wright as Shuri, Winston Duke as M’Baku, Danai Gurira as Okoye, Florence Kasumba as Ayo, Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia, and Martin Freeman as Everett Ross.

The film also introduces Tenoch Huerta Mejía as Namor, ruler of a hidden undersea nation, and stars Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams, Michaela Coel as Aneka, Mabel Cadena as Namora and Alex Livinalli as Attuma.
