Abbie Chatfield has announced she’s leaving her Hit Network radio show, Hot Nights With Abbie Chatfield.
The 28-year-old has hosted the show since 2022, alongside her other media gigs, which include hosting FBoy Island and the It’s a Lot with Abbie Chatfield podcast.
To announce the news, Abbie took to Instagram, where she posted a video explaining her decision to leave.
Underneath the video, Abbie wrote an extended caption that explained her decision was made a “little last minute” after returning from her holiday.
“I’m really happy with my decision and super proud of myself for letting this role go,” Abbie wrote on Instagram. “I simply need to put my energy into projects that bring me joy and that energise me, rather than draining me. I’m looking forward to socialising with my friends and family as well!! Always a bonus.
“It’s also time to give someone else a go who would enjoy and appreciate the opportunity more than myself. I have so much on, and daily radio takes up so much time. I simply wasn’t enjoying myself day to day in that environment.”
Abbie also explained that she wouldn’t be giving up her work with the network entirely and will continue to host her podcast and her Australian Made segment.
“This was my decision entirely, and I’m so glad I made it. My podcast @itsalotpod remains with the network, I’ll still be hosting @fridayz_live. More time for the pod will be so good for me and for the listeners
“I still am planning on doing Australian Made every week, just in a slightly different way. I’m so passionate about Australian music that this was the main reason I didn’t quit earlier, so I’m glad I can take it with me.
“Keen to see what the daily mail say about this LMAO but it’s entirely my decision, I’m super happy and I can’t wait to focus on the myriad of other projects I have coming up!”
Abbie’s media career began after taking part in the seventh season of The Bachelor in 2019. Since then, Abbie has not only made a name for herself on social media but in the Australian media landscape with roles on I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here!, The Masked Singer Australia and FBoy Island. The television and social media personality also hosted a sold out national live tour.
While we’re sad that we won’t be hearing Abbie on the radio anymore, we’re excited to see what she does next.
