Podcast: The Beauty Swaps Our Beauty Director’s Making Since Becoming Pregnant

Plus: The star ingredients she’s grieving

This week on Get Lippy, marie claire’s Beauty Director Sally Hunwick made a special announcement, she’s having a baby! With all of the excitement of falling pregnant, there was one thing that eventually dawned on her–parting with her some of her favourite skincare actives.

“I’m 27 weeks pregnant and there are a few simple changes I have made to my beauty routine since becoming pregnant,” says Sally. “Sometimes becoming pregnant can be hard and we want to do everything we can to make it happen so that we have the best chance of conceiving – and when you do become pregnant, you want to give your baby the best possible start in life.”

Sally talks about why you should ditch retinol and salicylic acid while you’re expecting; “These ingredients are amazing, and I dearly miss them! But the reason they are so good is that they can penetrate right into the skin and even into the blood stream, which is why the experts say to avoid them while you’re pregnant. Thankfully, there are plenty of pregnancy-safe alternatives you can swap into your beauty routine,” says Sally.

Tune in to get the low-down on Sally’s picks for maintaining clear and glowing skin all pregnancy long.

Also in the episode, the hot debate on natural deodorants – should we be making the swap to aluminium-free? And how to keep your hair shiny and healthy all summer long, no matter how much time you spend at the beach.
