The Serum-Meets-Foundation Hybrid
A few weeks ago I had coffee with a very chic PR, and could not help commenting on her flawless skin. I had to ask, what foundation was she using? She said it was Clarins’ Double Serum Foundation, a new formula that pumps both a serum and lightweight foundation at the same time. The resulting texture is lightweight, more skincare than makeup, with a glowy sheer finish.
Should We Stop Brushing Our Hair? Prada Says Yes
It’s my favourite time of year – fashion month! And while I’m in it for the clothes, there are always a ton of interesting – and inspiring – beauty looks to peruse. One I can really get behind is messy hair. First spotted in New York at cool girl brand Khaite and then in Milan at Prada, where messy, frizzy hair was paired with almost bare-faced makeup, I loved how the messiness was paired with pencil skirts and sweaters, almost offsetting their primness. So next time you feel bad you haven’t had time to run a brush through your locks before school drop off – don’t!
Chic Haircare – At Coles!
I love hair accessories. Combs, brushes, clips – I have empty Diptyque candle glasses filled with them. So when Soma founders Georgie Gilbert and Camille launched Twist (available at Coles!) I couldn’t wait to try them. Think claw clips in cute colours, midi clips, and satin scrunchies.
My New Go-To Lip Liner
Merit’s entire pitch is “beauty, foolproof,” and this is the actual proof. I’ve never met a lip liner so creamy, it almost doubles as a lipstick in stick form. The creamy formula also means it’s super hydrating (no top gloss necessary) and the shade Mayfair (a cool mauve) is the one everyone’s actually buying.
A Chic New Skin Clinic (In Melbourne!)
If facials and chic interior design are your thing, then new skin clinic Studio Pelle should be your next stop. Newly opened in Fitzroy, Melbourne, founder Julia Pelle mixes bespoke facials, laser, and skin needling with a design-led interior. I’ve been seeing her for laser treatments, and she told me the duo behind local gallery Oigall Projects consulted on the art and objects.
