When Prince Harry’s memoir, Spar,e was released (and subsequently panned by critics and social media alike despite reportedly selling over 14 billion copies), we found ourselves grappling with this newfound, intimate knowledge that we never expected (nor wanted) to glean.
Learning about his frozen todger? Not on our bingo cards. Reading how Prince Harry connected with Geri Halliwell on an emotional level because they were both gingers? Not sure how to take that one.
But honestly the most head-scratching moment came when Prince Harry revealed his psychedelic episode while tripping on magic mushrooms he found in Courteney Cox’s house.
In the autobiography, Prince Harry wrote that he attended a party held at Courteney’s Los Angeles home back in 2016 and that the invitation to attend the soiree, or “crash at Monica’s” was “highly appealing”. In case you were wondering, Harry is a self-proclaimed Chandler.
Probably the wildest claim came when Prince Harry alleged that while rummaging through the fridge he “spotted a huge box of black diamond mushroom chocolates”.
“Somebody behind me said they were for everybody. Help yourself, boys. My mate and I grabbed several, gobbled them, washed them down with tequila,” he wrote.
Now, Courteney has finally addressed the party (and whether Prince Harry did pluck up the courage to tell her that he was a Chandler).
Speaking to Variety, Courteney confirmed that Prince Harry did indeed party at “Monica’s”, saying: “He did stay here for a couple of days — probably two or three. He’s a really nice person.”
Of course, she couldn’t speak about this interesting tidbit and not give us any details about the mushroom moment!
“It’s gotten back to me about it. I’m not saying there were mushrooms! I definitely wasn’t passing them out,” she said.
Given Monica was a cook, we wouldn’t be surprised that there were questionable our d’oeuvres at a party she hosted.
Either way, it’s a note to self to not go rummaging through strangers’ fridges at your next house party—unless you turn the moment into a viral story.
