A family affair

The 2026 Met Gala has just begun but there’s been no shortage of showstopping moments. One of the most talked-about arrivals of the night was decidedly a family affair as Nicole Kidman, who is serving as a co-chair of this year’s gala alongside Beyoncé, Venus Williams, and Anna Wintour, arrived at the Metropolitan Museum of Art with a very special guest — her daughter, Sunday Rose.

Sunday Rose, the daughter of Nicole Kidman and country musician Keith Urban, made her Met Gala debut on Monday, stepping onto the iconic steps for the very first time. It was a milestone moment for the rising model, who has been steadily carving out her own space in the fashion world — walking the runway at Miu Miu and gracing the cover of ELLE Australia.

For her first appearance at fashion’s biggest night, Sunday Rose wore a custom Dior gown featuring a strapless, heavily textured bodice constructed from three-dimensional floral embellishments in shades of pink and lavender, paired with a floor-length, softly flowing pale blush skirt in a sheer, lightweight fabric. She kept her hair long and straight, complementing the dreamy, ethereal quality of her look.

As for Nicole, well she looked equally magnetic in a custom Chanel gown featured a fully sequined fish motif and dramatic feathered accents — a stunning take on monochrome dressing that paid homage to the evening’s “Fashion is Art” dress code. She worked with longtime stylist Jason Bolden to bring the look to life, and accessorised with pieces from the house’s High Jewelry collections.

Among the dazzling pieces were Soleil Ganse earrings in 18K white gold and diamonds from the “1932” collection — a reinterpretation of Gabrielle Chanel’s landmark 1932 “Bijoux de Diamants” exhibition, their delicate diamond-tipped rays evoking the sun as a feminine emblem — alongside two rings: a Croisiere style in 18K white gold set with diamonds, red spinel and lapis lazuli (including a cushion-cut red spinel of 7.05 carats) from the intimate “Les Bijoux de Mademoiselle” collection, inspired by Gabrielle Chanel’s own personal jewels; and a N°5 Cascade ring in white gold and diamonds, its curved cascade of stones tracing the iconic silhouette of the Chanel No. 5 bottle.

For her beauty look, Kidman returned to her signature blonde lengths — a departure from last year’s bold pixie cut — styled straight by Adir Abergel, paired with luminous, clean-girl-inspired makeup.
