As the pinnacle of noughties teen films, the news of a Freaky Friday sequel dubbed Freakier Friday, was celebrated by millennials everywhere.
A staple in the DVD collections of 2000s youths, the film brought together icons Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis, delivered enviable fashion moments (for the era), gifted us universal teen crush Chad Michael Murray on a motorbike and made us all want to start a rock band.
The bar was set understandably high for the sequel but so far, all signs point to a reboot fans will love.
All of your favourite cast from the original are returning including Lindsay, Jamie Lee and Chad, as well Ryan Malgarini as Anna’s brother Harry and Mark Hamon as Ryan.
The press tour thus far also has us convinced the fashion choices in the film will be impeccable (and hopefully nod to the original).

Freakier Friday Release Date Australia
Freakier Friday will be released in Australia exclusively in cinemas. That’s right, you’ll have to make like your 2000s teen self and make a date to head to the cinema.
The film drops and will be available to watch from Thursday, August 7th.
Where To Stream Freakier Friday In Australia
Given its theatrical release, we may have to wait a few months before Freakier Friday is released on any streaming sites in Australia.
However, the film is produced by Disney, so it’s safe to assume that when it does finally get a streaming release, it will likely be on Disney+.
What Happens In Freakier Friday?
Curtis revealed that the hotly anticipated sequel will have not one but two life-changing body swaps. That’s right, a four-way switch.
“It’s a four-way switch,” Curtis told abc. “Lindsay’s character Anna, the music producer, is engaged to be married to a young man named Eric. He happens to have a 15-year-old daughter and Anna has a 15-year-old daughter named Harper. The soon-to-be sisters don’t get along very well.”
But, that’s as much detail as Curtis would reveal, adding: “I’m not gonna tell you who switches with who.”
