The studio audience and panel on Network Ten’s The Project were left in tears—happy ones!—after a heartwarming proposal live on the show.
Melbourne couple Sonny and Candice were guests in the audience for a very special reason, with host Carrie Bickmore explaining the pair had been married, divorced and then were reunited.
This year, Sonny and Candice started dating again and the parents of two boys bought a house together.
Bickmore introduced the segment as proof that “true love never dies.”
“I love you and I would like to ask you to marry me and be my soul mate until the end of time,” Candice asked her partner.

He—thankfully—said yes live on air and the audience erupted in cheers.
Host Rachel Corbett broke down in tears and Bickmore was seen fanning her face with her notes in an emotional moment.
“Well, all the best, we hope you have a long and happy life together,” Bickmore gushed.
And the tears were not confined to the studio audience — on Twitter, fans rushed to congratulate the happy couple. But schadenfreude was also out in force, with a few others admitting the proposal could have made a fantastic viral video if all had not gone to plan.
Man, @theprojecttv is heavy with the feels tonight!#TheProjectTV
