It could be argued that Married At First Sight (MAFS) couple Rhi and Jeff started off in the experiment with a bit of a head start.
After all, as soon as Rhi walked in and saw a smiling Jeff at the end of the aisle, it was immediately clear the would-be couple had an existing pre-show connection.
But unlike their fellow contestants Carina and Paul, whose own pairing wasn’t so well-received, Jeff and Rhi found the humour in situation, each laughing through the awkwardness – or “shock” as Jeff put it – to seize the opportunity for another chance.
“It was just pure shock,” he said of the moment in a to-camera piece. “It was the last thing I was expecting today.”
After the two exchanged vows, Rhi explained that she and Jeff had dated for around a month before their relationship naturally “fizzled out.”
“We both just went our separate ways but we remained friends,” she explained.
“I guess we friend-zoned each other,” added Jeff. “It’s a bit bizarre”.
But keen to give things another crack, the two continued on with gusto, embracing the challenges of an on-camera relationship with relative ease and a willingness to start again.
“Jeff is an amazing person,” Rhi said during her asides, before revealing their previous romantic fail came down timing.
“Maybe there’s a reason she was standing there today and we get a second chance,” confirmed Jeff.

Do Jeff & Rhi Make It Out Of The Experiment Together?
Making it through Intimacy Week and the daunting Friends and Family meet-ups, Rhi and Jeff continued to pass the experiment’s hurdles with flying colours.
The meetings went so well in fact, as per the couple’s most recent commitment ceremony, that Jeff is now on texting basis with Rhi’s mum – which is a green flag if you ask us.
Solid foundations and parental approval aside, Expert Mel asked the question we were all wondering this week when she quizzed Jeff on his true feelings for Rhi, and his reaction was confirmation enough.
“Can you see yourself falling in love with Rhi?” Mel asked the blushing groom as he responded with a resounding, yet reserved, yes. Needless to stay Rhi was on the same page and they both decided to remain in the experiment for another week.
But as with other couples who have started out strong and sadly ended (here’s looking at you Billy and Sierah), it’s impossible to know how much on-screen action translates to the real world.
In the case of Rhi and Jeff however, MAFS snoops have been keeping a close eye on the couple, sharing images of the two enjoying a recent post-workout brunch. Meanwhile, the perfectly-matched pair were also papped by The Daily Mail on their way to celebrate Jeff’s 40th birthday at The Valiant Cocktail Bar at the weekend.
While it might still be too early to say for sure if it’ll be second time lucky for the couple, if we were a betting bunch we’d be placing all our cards on Rhi and Jeff to go the distance.
