Richard Flanagan’s best-selling and Booker Prize-winning novel, The Narrow Road To The Deep North is being turned into a Prime Video TV series with Jacob Elordi in the starring role.

Set in Australia during World War Two, the story follows Lieutenant-Colonel Dorrigo Evans (Elordi), an Australian doctor who is taken prisoner of war in the Far East during the construction of the Burma Railway. The story spans many decades, chronicling the doctor’s childhood to his time in the POW camp and love affair with his uncle’s wife, as well as his later life as a respected surgeon and war hero as he comes to terms with his experiences.

’The Narrow Road to the Deep North’ is a love story to sustain audiences through the darkest of times, an intimate character study illustrating the strength of the human spirit in the face of adversity, and an investigation into a marriage and an unforgettable love affair,” Prime Video said in a statement.

The TV series just completed filming in New South Wales, Australia.

The Saltburn and Euphoria star joins the cast with Odessa Young, who plays Elordi’s love interest, Amy Mulvaney.

Ciarán Hinds plays the older Dorrigo Evans, with Olivia DeJonge, Heather Mitchell, Thomas Weatherall, Show Kasamatsu, Charles An, Simon Baker, Essie Davis, William Lodder, Eduard Geyl, Christian Byers and Sam Parsonson also in the cast.

The screenplay has been penned by Shaun Grant and the series is directed by Justin Kurzel.

When Will The TV Series Be Released?

At this stage, the filming has just wrapped up and we don’t have a set release date.
