Angelina Jolie has filed for divorce from Brad Pitt, it was confirmed overnight.
Jolie’s representative Robert Offer said in a statement that the actress filed for “dissolution of marriage” on Monday, adding that the “decision was made for the health of the family”.
“She will not be commenting, and asks that the family be given its privacy at this time,” Offer added in a statement according to the BBC.
Pitt, 52, and Jolie, 41, have been together since 2004. They married in France in 2014.
Between them they have six children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh and twins Knox and Vivienne.
According to TMZ, the couple separated on September 15.
