Training season is officially over! Dua Lipa and Callum Turner have officially tied the knot in London.
And what was the bride wearing, you may ask? Custom Schiaparelli couture by Daniel Roseberry, of course. Would you expect anything less?
The custom white skirt suit consisted of a tailored ivory single-breasted blazer in cady, complete with a nipped waist, subtle peplum silhouette and gold buttons, paired with a matching asymmetric skirt. She accessorised with a dramatic wide-brimmed hat by Stephen Jones, white gloves and pointed white pumps.
For jewellery, she opted for a Bvlgari Serpenti High Jewelry necklace and Bvlgari stud earrings. Turner, meanwhile, went classic in a navy double-breasted Ferragamo suit, complete with a matching shirt and tie.
Immediately, the look calls to mind the original cool-girl bride: Bianca Jagger. When the socialite married Mick Jagger in Saint-Tropez in 1971, she famously eschewed a traditional wedding gown in favour of an Yves Saint Laurent Le Smoking jacket paired with a sweeping bias-cut skirt and wide-brimmed hat.
Worn with little more than confidence and one button fastened, the look has gone down as one of fashion’s most enduring bridal moments. More than five decades later, Lipa’s Schiaparelli ensemble feels like a distinctly modern homage.
According to Vogue, this is reportedly not the only wedding celebration Lipa and Turner have planned, either. A second three-day wedding event is set to be held in Palermo, Sicily. Rumoured to be on the guest list? Simon Porte Jacquemus, who is also alleged to be the designer behind Lipa’s second wedding look.
The pair are longtime friends, after all, and the singer has frequently championed his designs both on and off the red carpet.
Which raises the question: what does Dua’s civil ceremony look tell us about the wedding dress still to come?
Rather than leaning into overt bridal romance, the singer appears to be embracing a more fashion-led approach to wedding dressing. The Schiaparelli skirt suit was sharp, restrained and subversive, suggesting that any forthcoming gown may prioritise silhouette over embellishment.
If Jacquemus is indeed behind the rumoured second look, there are further clues to be found. There is also precedent. Lipa was among the guests who attended Simon Porte Jacquemus’s own wedding wearing white, arriving in a sheer floral-embroidered gown by the designer complete with a thigh-high split.
More recently, she embraced the bride-to-be aesthetic during a family holiday in France, wearing an ivory Jacquemus dress featuring an off-the-shoulder neckline and elegant ruching through the bodice, naturally accessorised with her now-famous engagement ring.
A quick look through Jacquemus’s bridal offering reveals a distinctly summery sensibility threaded throughout, one that would align perfectly with the rumoured Palermo setting.
If the Schiaparelli skirt suit is any indication, Lipa’s wedding wardrobe will be less about fairy-tale bridal conventions and more focused on personal style and the art of the unexpected. Whether she ultimately chooses Jacquemus or another designer entirely, one thing seems certain: the dress will be worth the wait.
