Something has been brewing, not so quietly, in the Off Campus fandom that has every other devotee and me extremely unsettled.
Murmurs and speculation of a rift between the show’s season one leads, Ella Bright and Belmont Cameli have proven unshakable the past few weeks. So persistent are the rumours that both Bright and Cameli have dropped a new video together, not addressing the topic but seemingly putting it to bed.
For those who follow the show and the cast, the very idea of a fallout between the lovable co-stars seems impossible. How did the speculation become so loud?
Where Did Ella Bright & Belmont Cameli Feud Rumours Start?
Whispers of a rift between Ella Bright and Belmont Cameli first began when eagle-eyed fans noticed Cameli deleting multiple posts from his Instagram grid, including a number of photos from his Off Campus press tour where he was pictured with Bright.
Among them were snaps from their appearances on Today and The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, their Popsugar magazine cover and pap pics. Given the gravitas Instagram activity holds in the modern era, often used as an indicator of breakups, romances and rifts, it’s not exactly surprising the fandom marked the behaviour strange.
Now, it’s worth noting it was not exclusively photos taken with Bright that were deleted from grid, making it highly possible, likely even, that the Off Campus star was simply tidying up his aesthetic.
On August 28th, Bright addressed the mounting speculation, reportedly writing in a since-deleted TikTok comment that was swiftly screenshot by fans that “everything is fine. Just move along your day.”
Now, the duo have doubled down in a new video addressed to fans via the Off Campus social accounts.
In the clip, Bright and Cameli appear together, looking as bubbly as usual.
“We just wanted to say that we have been so overwhelmed by the response to the first season,” Cameli says to camera. “You guys made it what it is, and we genuinely cannot thank you enough.”
Bright then added: “We’re back filming season 2 right now, and we cannot wait for you to see what’s coming. Trust us, it’s gonna be worth the wait.”
Both close out the clip by blowing kisses to the camera, smiling. And while it’s not a direct address of the speculation, the message is clear: there’s nothing to see here (except some really hot television, should you fancy a rewatch).
