"Supreme friend to me and family”.

Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson, is at the centre of controversy following newly leaked emails to “dear friend” Jeffrey Epstein.

The ex-wife of Prince Andrew, Duke of York – who has been notably linked to Epstein following accusations by Virginia Giuffre for sexually exploiting her as a teenager – had previously and publicly disowned the convicted sex offender.

In the emails obtained by the Mail on Sunday, Ferguson “humbly” apologised to Epstein for her 2011 interview with the Evening Standard whereby she admitted to having ties to the criminal which she called a “gigantic error of judgment.”

What Was In The Duchess Of York’s Email To Jeffrey Epstein?

The emails from the Duchess of York were allegedly written just weeks after she publicly condemned the billionaire who she then privately called  “a steadfast, generous and supreme friend to me and family”.

The correspondence reads: “ “I know you feel hellaciously let down by me from what you were either told or read and I must humbly apologise to you and your heart for that.”

Ferguson went on to write that she had acted at the behest of others in order to protect her career and charity work.

“I was instructed to act with the utmost speed if I would have any chance of holding on to my career as a children’s book author and a children’s philanthropist,” she is said to have written. “As you know, I did not, absolutely not, say the ‘P word’ [paedophile] about you but understand it was reported that I did.”

Has The Duchess Of York Responded?

Per The Guardian, a spokesperson for the Duchess says she stands by her condemnation of Epstein, claiming the letter was an attempt to placate the billionaire for fear of him pursuing a defamation case against her.

“Like many people, she was taken in by [Epstein’s] lies. As soon as she was aware of the extent of the allegations against him, she not only cut off contact but condemned him publicly, to the extent that he then threatened to sue her for defamation for associating him with paedophilia.

“She does not resile from anything she said then. This email was sent in the context of advice the duchess was given to try to assuage Epstein and his threats.”
