The Royal Family Head To The 2021 Royal Ascot In Odes To Pastel Shades And Polka-Dot Prints

Neutrals and softer hues were the talk of the town

As Australians, our nation’s people know that a day at the races is a staple to our culture. Every year, the country’s most prestigious spring racing events take place, but naturally, eyes are on more than the horses. From chic cocktail dresses to fashion-forward fascinators, the same rules apply for races held off our shores—including the Royal Ascot.

In the United Kingdom, the Royal Ascot is a summer tradition that sees fashion’s It-crowd, famous faces and of course, the royal family.

Frequented by the likes of Queen Elizabeth II, Kate Middleton, Meghan Markle and essentially every other royal family member, this year’s event took place as per usual, after last year’s was forced to take place behind closed doors.

From the Countess of Wessex in a blush-hued ensemble to Prince Charles in a dapper grey morning suit with a pop of pastel, below, every royal family member who has attended the Royal Ascot so far.

The Duke and Duchess Of Cornwall

In one of their first appearances since the birth of their granddaughter, Lilibet Diana, the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall sported shades of pastel and neutrals, keeping their attire subtle.

Camilla Parker Bowles arrived at the event in a sky blue, striped, long-sleeved dress with a v-shaped neckline. Pairing the ensemble with a matching, striped face mask, the Duchess finished off her look with a large, pastel blue hat, tilted to her right.

Prince Charles

As for Prince Charles, the Duke opted for a smart, grey three-piece suit, with a lavender tie and pocket square, matching the look with a black top hat, umbrella and matching black face mask.

Princess Anne

Much like her brother, Princess Anne opted to dress in cool shades, choosing to wear an indigo-coloured jacket, dress and shoes. As for the jacket, the outerwear piece was embroidered with florals in a silver thread. Anne also paired the look with her signature set of pearls—or in this case, two sets—and a navy, wide-brimmed hat.

Mike and Zara Tindall

Zara Tindall, the granddaughter of Her Majesty The Queen, and her husband Mike, make time for the Royal Ascot each and every year. This time, the pair opted for warm neutrals and fun prints to mark their attendance. As for Mike, he sported a top hat, a dashing three-piece suit and a salmon-pink tie, complete with an abstract polka-dot print.

Zara Tindall

Containing the print trend, Zara Tindall—who recently welcomed her third child, a son named Lucas—sported an off-white ensemble riddled in a polka-dot print. Along with the dress, Zara wore a neutral-hued fascinator, complete with three matching roses in the centre.

The Countess of Wessex

When it came to the Countess of Wessex, neutral tones were key. She made her appearance at the Royal Ascot in a neutral-toned full-length dress with a tie around the waist and a V-shaped neckline, complete with a silver pendant necklace and a matching fascinator tilted to her right.
