The Internet Has A Lot Of Feelings About Alexei And His Slurpee In ‘Stranger Things 3’

"THAT’S THAT"

Warning: This article contains major Stranger Things 3 spoilers.

If there’s one thing the creators of Netflix’s Stranger Things have nailed – it’s their incredible lineup of quirky, fun and interesting characters which have kept us coming back season after season.

However, the latest Stranger Things season has left fans outcrying following the death of a beloved new character. Russian scientist Dr Alexei (Alec Utgoff) quickly became a breakout star of season three thanks to his switchover to the good side. The character was killed by Russian muscle at the Fun Fair after working with Jim Hopper (David Harbour) and Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder) to stop what the Russians were doing beneath Hawkins.

Fans pointed out that Alexei cooperated with Joyce, Hopper and Murray Bauman (Brett Gelman), even going so far as to patiently communicate with Joyce about the top secret “machine.” Not to mention his Slurpee moment, which was quickly dubbed him “Alexei Smirnoff”.

Stranger Things fans should be used to this kind of thing by now, as season two featured the loss of beloved Bob (Sean Astin) and the original season Barb (Shanon Purser). Suffice to say, fans are still not over it.

The third season of the American science-fiction series is set in the summer of 1985 in Hawkins, where the new Starcourt Mall has become the focal point of the town. Eleven (Milly Bobby Brown) and Mike’s (Finn Wolfhard) budding relationship blossoms while strange power fluctuations trigger Will’s (Noah Schnapp) awareness of something otherworldly, leaving him to believe the Mind Flayer is still present. Despite having closed the portal to the Upside Down, the kids fear they’re still in danger.

The series also features Maya Hawke as Robin, Charlie Heaton as Jonathan Byers, Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin Henderson, Joe Keery as Steve Harrington and Dacre Montgomery as Billy Hargrave.

Stranger Things season 4 has yet to be officially confirmed by Netflix, but both the main cast and executive producer Shawn Levy seem to believe that another season is coming. The creators, Matt and Ross Duffer, previously stated that they intended for the show to only last for four seasons.
