Get Natalie Portman’s Stunning Lip Look

Hint: you’ll need to snap up Dior’s just released cult lipstick

With makeup taking a backseat for the past few months, we’re feeling the need now to add a pop of bright into our makeup routine. So when we saw Natalie Portman sporting this beautiful red lip (thanks to Dior’s beautiful lipstick update, Dior Rouge) we were keen to channel her look.

“Red makes a true statement,” says Peter Philips, creative director of Christian Dior makeup. And don’t think you have to be a master at application; if you don’t have a steady hand, a ‘dab and blend’ technique is a low-maintenance approach to look polished in seconds. Or, opt for a more neutral tone, says Philips. “Nude has become the everyday shade,” he says.

In 2021, the Rouge Dior collection has grown to an impressive 35 shades – from soft nudes to pinks and luxurious reds – so you’re guaranteed to find your personal shade love. Looking for a new shade? We’re throwing Nude Look (#100) into our handbags as the perfect everyday neutral, while the rosy tones of Chérie (#525) add an instant hit of healthy colour to our complexions. But for the moments it just has to be red, the new shade Red Smile (#080) is so confidence-enhancing, it’s destined to take on the iconic appeal of Dior’s classic #999 blue-red shade.

The new collection has also had a texture update. Inspired by the fashion house’s stunning couture fabrics, the new range now boats four couture fabric-inspired textures in lip-friendly formulations. There’s the original satin we know and love, as well as Dior’s covetable matte and metallic textures, and now there is a new powder-effect velvet, which will blow your mind if you’re seeking a soft, almost blurred texture that won’t dry out lips. All lipsticks in the range have been spiked with a new floral extracts to ensure there isn’t a chapped lip in sight. Win, win.

There’s a sustainable nod to Monsieur Dior’s 1953 original lip creation too with the return of refillable bullets. Supporting the brand’s commitment to sustainability, now you’re able to keep your updated CD motif lipstick case and refill it with your favourite shade.

Now, with our lip colour sorted, naturally the next tasks on our to-do list are emulating Natalie Portman’s tousled Parisian bob and tracking down that red beret.

Dior’s Rouge Dior lipsticks, $59 each, are available now on the newly launched Australian e-boutique at shop.dior.com.au.
