Camilla Parker Bowles Weighs In On The Royal Wedding

"We all wondered whatever would happen next"

As far as in-laws go, it probably doesn’t get more intimidating than Prince Charles and his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall (aka Camilla Parker Bowles). While newlywed Meghan Markle could be seen chatting and laughing with the pair at Prince Charles’ 70th birthday celebrations, we’d hazard a guess that it wouldn’t be without some trepidation that she spends time in their company.

Now, Camilla Parker Bowles has spoken publicly about the royal wedding. On England’s 5 News to discuss her commitment to fighting domestic abuse, the Duchess said she thought it was “such a lovely day” before having a quick dig at Meghan’s father.

“Just everything went right,” she told the news station. “We all wondered whatever would happen next and then everything went right.”

She’s thought to be referencing the drama caused by Thomas Markle in the days leading up to the wedding, Harper’s Bazaar UK reports, when he was caught staging paparazzi photos, refused to attend the wedding and was eventually hospitalised with heart problems, leading to Prince Charles walking the bride down the aisle.

“Everything was just perfect, including the weather, which couldn’t have been better,” the Duchess added. “It was a beautiful day.”

“The only thing is that we are all losing our voices now.”
