If there is one sure sign that we’re (finally) hurtling towards an Aussie summer, it is the annual flocking of the fashion industry to New York, where the Big Apple is currently playing host to a mega Spring/Summer 2027 season.
Henry Zankov set the tone with his debut as creative director of Diane von Furstenberg, while Cult Gaia, Ralph Lauren, Coach, Calvin Klein Collection and Proenza Schouler are among the other major names taking to the runway.
The official calendar comprises 63 runway shows and seven presentations, with participating designers evenly divided between menswear and womenswear. This New York Fashion Week promises to be as frenetic as ever, and ahead, we’ve rounded up all the highlights.
Cult Gaia

Cult Gaia’s Spring/Summer 2027 collection was an expansive mirage of texture, colour and movement. Each season, designer Jasmin Larian Hekmat embraces the art of vacation dressing, conjuring breezy, sun-drenched staples year-round that seem to yearn for a far-flung escape.
For SS27, however, that familiar sense of escapism took on a more poignant turn, as Hekmat channelled the loss of her grandmother, Mommy Aghdas, into a collection exploring “what grows after grief”.
Titled Behesht (the Persian word for heaven), the collection opened on a more restrained note, with a deep olive suit featuring exaggerated shoulders and matching capri trousers, followed by an A-line leather jacket with an oversized cocoon silhouette, styled with a textural woven skirt.
From there, the clothes gradually unfurled into something lighter and more exuberant, shedding their initial austerity in favour of shimmer, transparency and movement. As the palette brightened, Hekmat introduced gilded chainmail skirts, silk jacquards and scupltural accessories.
The finale was pure theatre, as hand-painted silk organza gowns, dip-dyed to evoke delicate feathers, gave way to a shower of pink petals cascading from the ceiling.
Ralph Lauren

Ralph Lauren’s Spring 2027 collection sought romance in the unexpected, loosening the house’s heritage and preppy codes with a playful, more irreverent sensibility. Navy and white anchored a wardrobe of languid trousers, jackets trimmed with shaggy shearling and richly textured floral brocade.
Familiar Americana was given unexpected panache, with feathers and fringe lending an insouciant edge to a recognisable Ralph Lauren woman who was clearly having fun with it.
Eveningwear brought further contrast, from fluid wrap dresses to sequinned navy dresses and embroidered velvet robes. Across the collection, hand-finished techniques introduced texture and imperfection, lending Ralph Lauren’s enduring elegance a distinctly modern, individualistic spirit.
Diane von Furstenberg

For his debut at Diane von Furstenberg, Henry Zankov revelled in colour. The opening look was an homage to the brand’s signature wrap dress, which first debuted in 1974 and revolutionised women’s fashion with its practicality. Zankov’s take was a jersey wrap dress rendered in purple and mustard leopard spots, setting the tone for a collection that looked to the future without becoming mired in the past.
Unexpected proportions and fabrications kept the familiar feeling fresh, from body-skimming knits and sheer chiffon to the open-weave designs synonymous with Zankov’s own label. ’70s references added a dose of nostalgia, while the overall effect remained confident, kinetic and unashamedly glamorous.
