It’s a poignant reminder that for every Olympic winner, there must also be Olympic losers.
Today British judo champion Ashley McKenzie narrowly missed out on the men’s under-60 kilogram final, and he posted this photo to Twitter. In it, he can be seen in tears behind a rubbish bin.

According to The Telegraph, he lost by a single point – and missed out by a similar margin at the last Olympics. But his Twitter post carried a thankful message.
“I don’t think I need to say much more about how I feel, thank you all for the support!” he wrote on Twitter.
