The 83rd annual Golden Globes just unfolded, officially ushering in the 2026 awards season and signalling a year of evolution for the long-running ceremony. While Nikki Glaser returned to host after a well-received debut in 2025, this year’s event arrived with expanded ambition.
Alongside film and television, podcasting was introduced as a competitive category, reflecting the medium’s cultural rise, while two of the ceremony’s most prestigious honours were shifted to a new pre-show event, Golden Eve, where Helen Mirren and Sarah Jessica Parker were awarded the Cecil B. DeMille and Carol Burnett honours.
Despite the structural shake-up, The Beverly Hilton was packed with industry heavyweights. Nominees including Michael B. Jordan (Sinners), Jacob Elordi (Frankenstein), Timothée Chalamet (Marty Supreme) and Jessie Buckley (Hamnet) were joined by presenters Julia Roberts, Miley Cyrus, Charli XCX, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Queen Latifah and Zoë Kravitz, with Heated Rivalry breakouts Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams adding an extra layer of frenzied intrigue.
On the awards front, One Battle After Another emerged as the season’s early film frontrunner, while Adolescence dominated the television categories. Acting honours were spread across a broad field, with wins for Wagner Moura, Jessie Buckley, Stellan Skarsgård and Timothée Chalamet.
Between Glaser’s sharp monologue, emotional acceptance speeches and a steady stream of self-aware industry humour, the night struck a balance between spectacle and sentiment. If this year’s ceremony is any indication, the Golden Globes are entering a new, more culturally attuned era.

Nikki Glasser’s Hilarious Opening Monologue
Nikki Glaser opened the 2026 Golden Globes with a blistering monologue that wasted no time finding its targets. From asking George Clooney to fix her Nespresso to acknowledging she was “punching low” with jokes about Leonardo DiCaprio’s young girlfriends, the comedian came out swinging.
The jokes quickly turned political. Glaser referenced “a list that has been heavily redacted,” awarded “Best Editing” to the Justice Department for the Epstein files, and skewered CBS News as “America’s newest place to see BS news.” She later spoofed Nicole Kidman’s AMC ad and sang a parody of K-Pop Demon Hunters before being theatrically cut off by Fran Drescher.
Adolescence Continued Its Awards-Season Dominance
Netflix phenomenon Adolescence continued its awards-season dominance, taking home four Golden Globes, including Best Limited Series. Accepting the award, writer Jack Thorne was quick to reframe the show’s intent, noting that it was not designed to criticise young people, but rather “the filth and the debris we have laid in their path.”
Stephen Graham was named Best Actor in a Limited Series, beating out Jude Law and Paul Giamatti, while breakout star Owen Cooper followed up his historic Emmy win with another supporting acting trophy.
In a disarmingly candid moment, 16-year-old Cooper reflected on his early days in drama class, admitting he was “the only boy there” and that it was “embarrassing, but I got through it.” Judging by this latest win, we’re sure he’s glad he stuck it out.
Erin Doherty also claimed the award for Best Supporting Actress, further cementing Adolescence as one of the night’s most decorated series.
Kylie Jenner & Timothée Chalamet Pack On The PDA
Unfortunately for us, Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet skipped the red carpet at this year’s Golden Globes, with Jenner instead making a direct entrance in a striking gold gown. Once inside, however, the pair were unmistakably close. Seated together throughout the night, they appeared relaxed, flirty and conspicuously smitten.
While Jenner leaned into full Hollywood glamour, Chalamet opted for a sleek all-black look, leaving his vivid Marty Supreme colour palette behind. The four-time nominee capped off the evening with his first-ever Golden Globe win, thanking director Josh Safdie, the cast, his parents and his partner — Jenner, though unnamed — in his acceptance speech.
Earlier this month, he also publicly thanked Jenner at the Critics Choice Awards, prompting an emotional “I love you” from the audience.
Julia Roberts Commands A Standing Ovation
Julia Roberts may have missed out on a win at this year’s Golden Globes, but she still received one of the night’s biggest moments.
As she took the stage to present Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, the audience rose for a spontaneous standing ovation, which Roberts playfully encouraged. “I’m going to be impossible for at least a week,” she joked. Later, Jessie Buckley thanked Roberts in her own acceptance speech, calling her “a hero to us all.”
The Men Were Not Safe At The 2026 Golden Globes
If the 2026 Golden Globes had an unofficial theme, it was this: the men were not safe. Wanda Sykes set the tone early, skewering the male nominees while presenting Best Stand-Up, quipping that some people were “pissed off that a queer Black woman is up here doing the job of two mediocre white guys,” before delivering jabs at Bill Maher, Brett Goldstein and Kevin Hart.
The gender flip continued when Melissa McCarthy and Kathryn Hahn presented a male acting award, joking that it was “about time” men finally had “a seat at the table.”
The bit carried through the night, with Nikki Glaser’s monologue and multiple pointed punchlines making it clear: this year, the women weren’t just hosting. They were roasting.
Connor Storrie & Hudson Williams Brought The Heat
Heated Rivalry breakout stars Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams brought their trademark chemistry to the Golden Globes stage while presenting the award for Best Supporting Actress in a TV series.
Although their hockey romance wasn’t eligible for the Globes, the two breakout stars of the Canadian phenomenon still managed to steal the night with their easy banter and flirtatious dynamic.
