Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Have Announced A Surprise Return To The UK

Is another reunion imminent?

It’s time for royal fans to count their lucky stars, because Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have shared their surprise plans to return to the United Kingdom.

Their announcement comes mere months after the couple’s first trip back to the royals’ home turf for Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee. This time around, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are set to be visiting Germany and the UK to attend charity events “close to their hearts”, as per their spokesperson announcement.

Another event that Harry and Meghan will be present at is the One Young World 2022 Manchester Summit on September 5, where Meghan is scheduled to kick off the event with a speech.

“We’re delighted to announce Harry and Meghan, Duke and Duchess of Sussex, will be attending the One Young World Summit in Manchester this September!” an announcement post on the organisation’s official Instagram account read.

“The Duchess will be delivering a keynote address at our Opening Ceremony. The Duke and Duchess will also be meeting with a group of Summit delegates doing outstanding work on gender equality.”

The former Suits star has worked with the charity since 2014, and previously attended the opening ceremony in London, back in 2019. While there, she and Harry held a discussion for gender equality activists at Windsor Castle, behind their ‘royal exit’ in 2020.

“[Meghan] has continued to work with and support a number of One Young World Ambassadors, particularly those working for equal rights for women and girls,” the announcement continued.

Once they finish up in Manchester, the royal couple plan to head to Germany for the Invictus Games Düsseldorf 2023 ‘One Year To Go’ celebrations on September 6, and two days later, they’ll be expected to return to the UK for the WellChild Awards.

As for whether their return will see a reunion with Prince William and Kate Middleton is still unknown, however, it looks to be unlikely with rumours claiming that tensions between the brothers are still high, as per The Telegraph UK.

Back in June, Harry and Meghan attended the Service of Thanksgiving at St. Paul’s Cathedral, but it was reported that they didn’t sit by William and Kate while inside the church.

“Senior members of the royal family were seated in the front row and non-senior members in the second row,” a source told Us Weekly, adding that the palace chose “to keep them on opposite sides of [the] cathedral to avoid any unwanted attention”.

Ever since Harry and Meghan stepped away from their royal lives, tensions have been high between them and the rest of the royal family. And according to royal experts, the couple had hoped that the trip would see them “mend fences” with their relatives during the Platinum Jubilee, but instead, they were “sidelined”.

“[They] ran into a brick wall,” royal expert Christopher Andersen told Us. “I thought that there would be an opportunity for [Harry] to show up there to show the solidarity [and] the future of the monarchy. I’m sure they expected to have a warmer welcome than what they received.”

Earlier in 2022, Harry spoke candidly about his relationship with his grandmother and the rest of the royal family, sharing that California feels more like home than the United Kingdom does.

“Home for me now is, for the time being, is in the States and it feels that way, as well,” he told Today in April. “We’ve been welcomed with open arms and have such a great community in Santa Barbara.”

Currently, there’s no sign that Harry and Meghan are planning on moving back to the United Kingdom, but never say never.
