If you were captivated by Gillian Flynn’s Gone Girl and left on the edge of your seat by Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant’s latest project The Undoing, based on Jean Hanff Korelitz’s psychological thriller, Netflix’s latest offering is going to have you hooked from episode one—with the chilling drama promising a twist that’ll leave you screaming ‘WTF that ending.’
Based on Sarah Pinborough’s same-titled bestselling novel, Behind Her Eyes follows a single mother who enters a world of twisted mind games when she begins an affair with her psychiatrist boss while secretly befriending his mysterious wife.
The adaptation was written by Angela LaManna and Steve Lightfoot, alongside producer Eliza Mellor and director Erik Richter Strand. It’s already gained the seal of approval from author Pinborough, who has said that the series “blew her away.”

What Is Behind Her Eyes About?
Based on the 2017 Sarah Pinborough novel of the same name, Behind Her Eyes follows the affair between Louise and David. Louise is unaware that married psychiatrist David—a man she met in a bar and hooked up with over the weekend—will be her new boss come Monday morning. While that premise is terrifying enough, Louise soon discovers that David has a wife, Adele, and after befriending her uncovers some strange realities about their marriage.
Who Was Cast In Behind Her Eyes?
Leading the cast as Louise Barnsley is Simona Brown (The Little Drummer Girl, The Night Manager) with Eve Hewson (Robin Hood, Tesla) and Tom Bateman (Vanity Fair) taking on the roles of husband and wife Adele and David Ferguson.
Actor Robert Aramayo also joins the cast, playing Adele’s troubled and drug-addicted friend Rob.
Is The Ending The Same In Book As It Is In The Book?
Don’t worry, we won’t be giving any spoilers away for that ending, but the creative team responsible for Behind Her Eyes’ TV adaptation did stick fairly closely to the novel by Pinborough, so if you’ve read the book you will probably know what to expect—after all, when the book was released it was marketed with the hashtag “#WTFthatending.”
