Reports have surfaced that the Dakota and Chris have broken up after eight years together.
Per People, the couple have broken up with sources telling the outlet “It feels final this time.”
Stepping out days before Johnson’s Cannes Film Festival appearances, the last time the couple were spotted together was in May, soaking up the Malibu sunshine.
The Materialists actress and her beau had been together (albeit, reportedly on and off ) since 2017 and even had the adoring blessing of Martin’s ex, Gwyneth Paltrow.
The GOOP founder regularly posts photos with Johnson, sharing a sweet tribute to the actress for her 30th birthday before telling Harper’s Bazaar she ‘loves her’.
“I can see how it would seem weird because it’s sort of unconventional,” she said.
“But I think, in this case, just having passed through it iteratively, I just adore her. I always start to think of the ampersand sign — what else can you bring in, instead of being resistant to or being made insecure by? There’s so much juice in leaning in to something like that.”

The Fifty Shades of Grey actress and Coldplay frontman were first rumoured to be seeing each other after they were spotted on a dinner date in New York in October. PEOPLE magazine later confirmed the romance, before Johnson confirmed it in her own way: by flying all the way to Argentina just to watch her beau’s concert.
“They’ve gotten to know each other really well and are very comfortable [with] one another. Chris sends Dakota his music to get her opinion. It’s more than just a fling,” an insider told Us Weekly in 2017.
After a year of quietly dating, Johnson finally confirmed her romance with the singer in an interview with Tatler.
“I’m not going to talk about it, but I am very happy,” Johnson confirmed in the cover story.
Just a few months earlier, a source told People that the two were still going very strong.
“They have spent a lot of time together,” the source said. “Chris lives in Malibu and Dakota seems to love hanging out there. They occasionally go for dinner with friends, but mostly have friends over at home. They go to the beach together, and walks around the neighborhood. They seem to enjoy sharing a quiet life. It does seem they are getting more serious,” they said.

Eagle-eyed internet detectives noticed Johnson had brand new ink on her arm in the form of an infinity tattoo in September, 2018. E News reported just a few days earlier at a fashion launch in LA, Martin debuted the same infinity tattoo in a similar spot to Johnson’s new ink. Cute.
