Emerald Fennell’s Wuthering Heights adaptation has had prospective viewers gagged from the moment Jacob Elordi and Margot Robbie co-signed as the film’s two leads.
Between downright horny trailers and the press tour officially commencing, the zeitgeist has been swept into a state of hysteria – and we still have weeks until its release.
In an era where the appetite for stories built on yearning (read: Heated Rivalry, The Summer I Turned Pretty) is insatiable, Fennell’s debaucherous spin on Wuthering Heights is primed for devouring with little intervention. But, that hasn’t stopped Robbie and Elordi, who play Catherine and Heathcliff, from leaning in.
As the first interviews on the highly anticipated press tour unfold, both actors have spoken about one another with such overwhelming emotion (from matching rings to claiming they’re “codependent”) that it’s sent the internet into further frenzy.
It hasn’t come without critique, however, with some calling it “affair-bait” and comparing it to the now-infamous and somewhat contentious Anyone But You press tour with Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell. The flirty red carpet antics of which drove audiences to the cinema (not an easy feat in the age of streaming) but also according to Gigi Paris, Powell’s ex, took its toll on their real life relationship.
Embodying the spirit of the film and one’s character on a press tour has become status quo in recent years, just look to the likes of Wicked, The Naked Gun with Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson or Caught Stealing with Zoe Kravitz and Austin Butler.
Nowadays, playing your part beyond the screen is just part and parcel of being an actor, it seems. Are our Wuthering Heights stars acting or as ‘mutually obsessed’ with one another as they say? We couldn’t blame them for the latter nor do they insinuate anything more than a mutual appreciation of each other’s work ethic and craft.
You can deduce for yourself, as we unpack everything Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi have said about one another, below.

Everything Margot Robbie & Jacob Elordi Have Said About Their Relationship
On Their “Mutual Obsession” And “Co-Dependence”
In an interview with Fandango Robbie admitted to becoming ‘codependent’ with her co-star, Elordi.
“I’m so codependent with people I work with and I love everyone so much and I’m always that person who’s so devastated when a job’s over and I never want it to end. I think I developed that quite quickly with Jacob too,” she said.
“I don’t know if Emerald told you to do this or you did this,” she said while addressing Elordi, “but I remember the first couple days on set, he would just be always in the vicinity where I was, but like in a corner, watching Cathy.”
She then went on to add that she became so accustomed to the Saltburn star’s presence that when he wasn’t around, she felt “really unnerved and unmoored. And I felt quite lost, like a kid without their blanket or something.”
In the same interview, Elordi said “we have a mutual obsession” with one another.
“I think the thing is, regardless of plot or screenplay, if you have the opportunity to share a film set with Margot Robbie, you’re going to make sure you’re within 5 to 10 metres at all times.
“Watching how she drinks tea, how she eats her food, how she does it. When is it going to slip? When is the thing going to come undone? And, it never comes undone,” he added.

On Jacob Elordi’s Grand Valentine’s Day Gesture
Having filmed over Valentine’s Day in 2025, Robbie recounted her co-star making a grand romantic gesture “as Heathcliff”.
“We were shooting on Valentine’s Day. You made my day and, as Heathcliff, filled my room with roses,” she told Vogue Australia.
“I remember thinking on Valentine’s Day, oh he’s probably a very good boyfriend, ’cause there’s a lot of thoughtfulness in this. You did a lot of very thoughtful things.”
On Their Matching Signet Rings
During their press tour, you may have spied the co-stars sporting a set of matching rings. Turns out, it was a gift from Robbie.
The chunky gold rings, designed by Cece Jewellery, feature two hand-enamelled skulls locked in an embrace and surrounded by thorns as well as Cathy and Heathcliff’s initials and “1847-2026”.
The brand’s founder, Cece Fein-Hughes, told British Vogue the design sought to “symbolise both bittersweet love and the harshness of nature.”
