And Just Like That, Sarah Jessica Parker Has A New Side Hustle As A Book Publisher

Maybe she'll publish Carrie Bradshaw's next book?

When it comes to namesake side hustles, Sarah Jessica Parker has always kept hers strongly correlated to her famous onscreen persona.

Much like Sex And The City‘s Carrie Bradshaw, Parker has a deep adoration for high heels, which explains why she developed her own shoe brand, named SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker, with department store Bloomingdale’s.

Now, Parker is making yet another connection with her onscreen character and her love of literature by announcing the launch of her own publishing imprint, called SJP Lit.

Partnered with independent publishing house Zando, Parker will be publishing four to six books over three years. Apparently, she will be “heavily involved” in the publishing process, from cover design to marketing, which shouldn’t be hard given her millions of Instagram followers.

But she’s not the first celebrity to try their hand at publishing literature, the same publisher has deals in place with famous faces like Lena Waithe, Gone Girl‘s Gillian Flynn and John Legend.

Despite the news, fans might be shocked to hear that this isn’t Parker’s first slice of the publishing pie. In 2018, the 56-year-old had an imprint with Hograth, that saw her publish Fatima Farheen Mirza’s novel about an Indian Muslim family who move to California, called A Place For Us.

Given that the first season of And Just Like That is over—and a second season is still yet to be confirmed—it makes sense that Parker has, well, more time on her hands.

“It is with tremendous pride and delight that I announce the launch of my new imprint, SJP Lit. I make no secret of my devotion to books, the necessary role they play in my life and my endless admiration for authors and storytellers,” Parker said in a statement.

“So it’s simply a dream come true to have the opportunity to participate again in the discovery and support of extraordinary new voices.

“I feel especially fortunate to take part in the process of helping readers uncover their new favourite books and authors, a task I don’t take lightly and will tend to fiercely.”

But what’s next for Parker? Well, perhaps she’ll take a leaf out of Carrie’s book and try her hand at podcasting. Either way, we’re here for it.
