Is there anything worse than feeling trapped? Whether itโs not being able to unlatch the communal bathroom stall or having a lock stuck on your front door, the fleeting panic of not being able to open a door is an all-too-familiar feeling. For Andy Leeโs girlfriend, Rebecca Harding, it became reality โ for a huge seven and a half hours.
Lee has revealed he accidentally locked his girlfriend in their shared bathroom overnight, letting on that Harding spent almost eight hours locked in their ensuite overnight after he failed he fix the faulty door.
Taking to Twitter, Lee posted a photo of Harding after the ordeal โ impromptu bed included. โWhen finding your girlfriend locked in the bathroom for 7.5 hours reminds you that you were meant to fix the bathroom door months ago,โ he wrote, alongside the photo of Harding wearing a bathrobe and standing next to a towel bed.
Elaborating on the Hamish & Andy podcast, Lee explained how the situation started after he got home late from a night out.
โSo I came home a little later than I said I was going to, to Bec, and sheโd been waiting,โ Lee said. โI got home at around 12.30am after having a few too many beers. And Bec said โYouโre going to sleep in the spare room tonight.โโ
However, when Harding went to use the bathroom at 2am โ after Lee had gone to sleep in the spare room โ she became trapped when the door handle fell off. Dead to the world, Lee couldnโt hear her cries for help and didnโt find his girlfriend until past 9am the next day.
According to Lee, Harding burst into tears when he opened the door, which he was meant to fix for a month beforehand.
Apparently, Harding spent the time doing face masks and having a bath to pass the time, no doubt because a few towels donโt really make for the best makeshift bed. And although the radio host didnโt specify, weโre guessing he had more than one night in the spare bed following that ordeal.
