It has been three months since Chrissy Teigen revealed her devastating pregnancy loss with her third child, Jack. Now, in the week that would have seen Jack’s due date approach, she has reflected on the heartbreaking tragedy and the impact it’s left on her.
On February 3, Teigen opened up about the pain she has felt as the tough week approaches, around the same time as her upcoming endometriosis surgery.
“My little jack would have been born this week so I’m a bit off,” she revealed on Twitter. “I truly feel kicks in my belly, but it’s not phantom. I have surgery for endometriosis tomorrow… but the period feeling this month is exactly like baby kicks. sigh.”
Teigen shared said caption along with a video of her stomach where there are visible “kicks” coming from beneath her skin. Teigen’s post depicts the heartbreaking physical reminder from her body of last year’s tragedy. However, the Cravings author is looking for the silver lining, saying:
“I’ll pretend it’s him saying hi—it never stops.”
Back in October 2020, Chrissy Teigen and husband John Legend tragically lost their third child, Jack, at 20 weeks. Taking to Instagram, Teigen shared a series of heartbreaking black-and-white images showing the couple saying goodbye to their son, along with a statement depicting the pain and grief that has struck them as a result of a complicated pregnancy.
“We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we’ve never felt before,” Teigen wrote. “We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions. It just wasn’t enough.”
“He will always be Jack to us. Jack worked so hard to be a part of our little family, and he will be, forever,” she wrote.
Since Jack’s passing, the couple have not only shared their grief and mourning with the public, they have also launched a charity in his honour that benefits sick and injured children.
“People say an experience like this creates a hole in your heart,” Chrissy wrote an essay on the tragedy with Medium. “A hole was certainly made, but it was filled with the love of something I loved so much. It doesn’t feel empty, this space. It feels full.”
