Louis Vuitton Rewrites The Rules Of Its Most Iconic Canvas

The House's legendary motif enters a new era

To mark 130 years of one of fashion’s most recognisable signatures, Louis Vuitton is launching the Monogram Emblème — a new jacquard canvas that reinterprets the House’s legendary motif for a new era.

Unveiled in June 2026, the Monogram Emblème takes its cues from the original cotton canvases that lined Louis Vuitton’s historic travel trunks.

The updated fabric is woven from a blend of GOTS-certified cotton and linen fibres, giving it a distinctly tactile quality that sets it apart from the classic coated canvas. It is also durable and water-repellent, with a denser embroidery-like pattern that adds depth and dimension to the familiar LV motif.

Colour plays a central role in the new canvas. Hues are drawn from the Vuittonnier — the House’s proprietary colour library — and each shade is created using five differently coloured threads to produce a rich, layered effect. The Pre-Fall 2026 collection, landing in stores on 5 June, debuts two new shades: Peuplier, a warm neutral inspired by the wooden structure of vintage trunks, and Rose Ruban, a soft pink referencing the ribbon detailing found on archival designs.

Two further colourways — Monogram Bleu, drawn from a 1930s archive reference, and Vert Jura, inspired by the natural landscape of Louis Vuitton’s home region — will follow in September 2026.

The Monogram Emblème will appear across the House’s most storied silhouettes, including the Alma, Neverfull, Speedy, Noé and Keepall, as well as the Side Trunk — a nod to Louis Vuitton’s origins as a luggage maker. Small leather goods, shoes and accessories will also feature the new canvas.

The launch positions the Monogram Emblème not as a replacement for what came before, but as an evolution — one rooted firmly in the House’s archival heritage while speaking clearly to where luxury is heading.
