There’s something very chic about a watch. Unlike a handbag or a heel, it sits close to the skin – marking meetings, milestones, school drop-offs, flights, deadlines, dinners, and the thousands of small moments that shape a woman’s life.
Ahead of Mother’s Day, that idea of time – and how we spend it – was at the heart of an intimate morning hosted by marie claire and Swiss watchmaker Tissot, celebrating the launch of the brand’s striking new SRV women’s collection.
Held inside Tissot’s boutique in Sydney’s Westfield, the elegant in-store event brought together readers, tastemakers and friends of the brand for a conversation around style, confidence, motherhood and the pieces that stay with us through every chapter.

Leading the conversation was marie claire editor Georgie McCourt, who welcomed guests with a message: “At Marie Claire, we spend a lot of time talking about the pieces that truly stand the test of time – whether that’s a beautifully cut blazer, the perfect lipstick… or a watch that becomes part of your everyday uniform,” McCourt told guests.
“And that’s what I love about Tissot. There’s this beautiful balance between heritage, craftsmanship and modern style – pieces that feel timeless, but still completely relevant to how women dress and live now.”
“And that feels especially true of the SRV Collection, and its beautiful message: Celebrate Every Facet.”

Joining McCourt on the panel were three women who understand personal style better than most: marie claire beauty director Sally Hunwick, fashion director Naomi Smith, and renowned fashion stylist and self-confessed “shopping addict” Marina Didovich, who each brought their own perspective on dressing for the many roles women inhabit every day.
The conversation moved effortlessly between fashion and philosophy, touching on everything from signature style and jewellery layering to school drop-offs, career pivots, ambition, and learning to protect your time as you get older.
“Because modern women aren’t defined by one role, one title, or one version of themselves,” McCourt said. “We’re a mix of experiences, emotions, ambitions and expression. Every chapter reveals another facet of who we are.”
“And perhaps that’s why a watch feels so personal – because every facet tells a story… and time moves with you.”

At the centre of the event was the new Tissot SRV 30MM – a vintage-inspired timepiece that draws on the glamour of the Art Deco movement, with bold angular lines, faceted sapphire glass, mother-of-pearl detailing and a rectangular silhouette that feels both nostalgic and distinctly modern.
The SRV – short for Sapphire Rectangle V – takes inspiration from a 1975 Tissot design, itself a reinterpretation of the maison’s earlier creations from the 1920s, when geometric shapes and architectural precision defined an era of elegance. With Swiss quartz precision, 5-bar water resistance and a luxurious finish, it’s designed for women whose days move between multiple worlds – and who want a piece that moves with them.
Throughout the morning, guests explored the collection up close – trying on polished steel bracelets, supple leather straps and shimmering mother-of-pearl dials, each styled with tailoring, denim, silk shirting and stacks of fine jewellery.

But perhaps the most resonant part of the conversation came when the panel turned to time itself.
“Tissot is all about time and precision,” McCourt asked the room. “So I’m curious… what’s your relationship with time? Are you always early… fashionably late… or somewhere in between?”
“And do you think women become better at protecting their time as they grow?”
It’s a question that seemed particularly poignant ahead of Mother’s Day – when so many women are reflecting on the invisible labour, emotional bandwidth and countless hours they pour into the people they love.

As the morning drew to a close, McCourt left guests with one final thought.
“Ultimately, great style isn’t about having more – it’s about choosing pieces that move with you through different chapters of your life.”
“Pieces that evolve with you. Pieces that reflect every version of who you are. Pieces where every facet tells a story.”
“And I think that’s exactly what Tissot – and the SRV Collection – represents: craftsmanship, longevity, confidence… and pieces that become part of your story.”
Just in time for Mother’s Day, it felt like a timely reminder: the best pieces don’t just tell the time. They tell your story.
